EBP Updates
The Brighton & Hove Education Business Partnership team have been working with teachers and students from Patcham High School, as part of a residential visit to Blacklands Farm in East Grinstead.
Students have been involved in a series of teamwork activities such as Square Puzzle, White-water Crossing and Saboteur. These are team work exercises, designed to enable students to understand about their personal skills, team dynamics and the meaning of various scenarios in relation to their school work and exam courses –
(eg. Comparison, Analysis and Summarising). During these activities students will be able to apply their learning from a range of practical challenges, to their revision, coursework and actual exams.
The facilitating coaches are from industry and are not the school’s teaching staff which will help students relate to people in their career pathways, and to provide a more accessible link to the world of work for young people.
These activities are to help support student understand the requirements of their GCSE questions, and to help them understand that taking time to plan, organise work and effectively prepare their work will result in a more successful outcome.
EBP staff were impressed with the maturity, logistical planning skills and teamworking ability of the Patcham High School students.
