Community Learning

 Welcome to the Community Learning webpage.

The Community Learning team provides short informal courses, and friendly advice and support for adult thinking of learning new skills. Our courses are all free, and are held in local venues.

Some of our courses are just for fun, or others lead to qualifications. If you are interested in a course that is not in the area where you live, you can still apply for a place although we give priority to local residents, and to adults with few or no previous qualifcations.

We offer courses in:

  • Food Safety *
  • Confidence Building
  • First Aid*
  • Computing for Beginners
  • Functional Skills* - Practical English and Maths
  • Family Learning*
  • Courses for Young Parents

* These courses offer accreditation

Family Learning

Family Learning courses are inter-generational courses where parents/carers learn alongside their children. Courses run every term in targeted schools and pre-school settings across the city, as part of a rolling programme.
