Family Learning
Family Learning courses are inter-generational programmes to enable parents/carers and their children to learn together. The courses aim:
- to develop the skills or knowledge of the adult and child
- to help parents/carers to be able to support their children's learning with greater confidence, and to be able to understand why that support is important
We run a variety of programmes for parents and children in schools and pre-school settings across the city, including :-
- short workshops,
- courses for families who speak other languages,
- courses for young parents,
- courses for parents of pre-school children
- longer accredited courses to support the literacy and numeracy skills of parents and children.
- National Certificate courses for Adult Literacy and/or Numeracy,
Parents on all our longer courses have access to advice and guidance sessions to enable them to move on to further education and training.
